My name is Dr. Paul Ferenchak. Although I had fashioned myself as a family physician in a rural community after medical school, my inclinations and technical abilities brought me to a general and vascular surgical residency, followed by a very active practice in general and vascular surgery in Syracuse, N.Y. When I became physically unable to practice surgery I returned to my “first love”, general medicine, including geriatrics. I always believed that much medicine can be practiced in the patient’s home, and that considerable helpful information about the patient can be gleaned by visiting the patient in their home. My concept of medicine is not much different from that brought to canvas by Norman Rockwell – a part of the American medical heritage that was once prevalent.

The concept of personalized care coupled with technology could make our system the best in the world, a position we have lost in many regards. The present health-care system has the technology, but not personalized care. I intend to provide both and I can provide better care at a lower cost! Typically, I charge much less than the usual charges seen on a medical bill – even 50% to 80% lower in some circumstances. I am able to do this because I have drastically cut my overhead and eliminated the need to submit claims to insurance companies for payment, thereby increasing efficiency. Direct payment eliminates a third party and makes medicine affordable. If you combine my system with a high deductible insurance plan (thus lowering your monthly premium and covering only catastrophic care) you could save a significant amount of money overall. My routine lab tests and other office-based tests are less expensive for the same reasons, and because they are done at the time of service, you save your time.
All charges will be submitted to you on a form “super bill” with proper billing codes. You then can submit this form to your insurance company and receive the insurance benefits due to you. Unlike most offices that take insurance and send your personal health record to the insurance company or the government to get paid, we keep your health information private. Your health information never leaves our office without your expressed request to do so (unless requested by legal authorities). This is “Direct Care Medicine”.
Although I successfully practice for over 20 years as a board certified general and vascular surgeon specializing in minimally invasive procedures, I have always been first a physician who takes care of the whole patient. Since returning to practice, I’ve become experienced in geriatrics and interventional pain management as well as general medical practice – basically, family medicine. I care for children (except for infants) and the geriatric patient alike.
My clinical background - complete educational and practice records are available in my Curriculum Vitae and the PECOS and NYS Health Department databases.
With this background, I am confident that I can care for your health care needs and, when necessary, I know where and who to refer you to at the appropriate time. My promise is that you will consistently receive individualized attention and uncomplicated access.

Goal simply stated – provide my patients with comprehensive care they request and need in a timely fashion and simplify the medical process providing continuity of care and AAA service (Ability, Affability, Availability). That means I know you as a person as well as a patient.
